Who we are

MTB Guatemala Mountain Bike Tours ("MTB Guatemala", "we", "us") runs guided mountain bike tours, bike rentals and related travel services in Guatemala. Our office address is 265 Aspen Drive, Unit 3, Jackson, WY 83001, United States. For anything about your personal data, write to info@mtbguatemala.com or message us on WhatsApp at +1 347 403 9993.

This policy explains what we collect when you visit www.mtbguatemala.com, contact us or book a tour or rental, why we collect it, who we share it with and what you can ask us to do with it.

What we collect

  • Contact details: your name, email address, phone or WhatsApp number, country and language.
  • Booking details: the tour or rental, dates, the riders in your group, pickup and drop-off places, and what you tell us so the ride is safe and fits you: riding ability, height and weight (for bike size), bike choice, diet, and medical notes you choose to share.
  • Waivers: the liability waiver you sign before riding, with its date.
  • Payments: amounts, dates and payment status. Card payments are made through Stripe and PayPal; your card number goes to them, never to us. Stripe keeps a saved card only when you agree to a payment plan.
  • Messages: the emails, WhatsApp messages, text messages (SMS, through our Google Voice number), website chat messages and voicemails you send us, and our answers.
  • Website use: pages visited, device and browser, approximate location (country/city from your IP address) and cookies, as described below.
  • Photos: pictures our guides take on tours, which may show you.

Why we use it

  • To answer your questions and prepare quotes.
  • To book, plan and run your tour or rental: guides, bikes, transport, lodging and pickup times.
  • For your safety on the ride.
  • To send invoices, receipts and the reminders and information your trip needs.
  • To keep our accounts and meet legal and tax obligations.
  • To send news and offers, only if you subscribed; every newsletter has an unsubscribe link.
  • To keep the website working, secure and useful.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for anything unrelated to these purposes.

Who we share it with

Only the people and services that help us run your trip and our business, and only what they need:

  • Our guides and staff, and the drivers, lodges and partners on your itinerary.
  • Payment processors: Stripe and PayPal.
  • Software we run on: our own Odoo system hosted on Vultr servers, Cloudflare (website delivery and security), Zoho (accounting and email), Google (Gmail and Google Voice) and Meta (WhatsApp).
  • Authorities, when the law requires it.

Google user data

Our booking system connects to our own company Gmail account (with Google’s permission screen) to read the notification emails Google Voice sends for texts, voicemails and missed calls to our number, so they appear in our customer conversations, and to send our text replies. It only reads those Google Voice notifications in our own mailbox; it does not access any visitor’s or customer’s Google account.

MTB Guatemala’s use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. This data is used only to provide and improve our customer messaging, is never used for advertising, is never sold, and is not read by people except to answer your messages or when the law requires it.

Cookies

Our website uses cookies that it needs to work (language, session, booking form), and statistics cookies that show us how the site is used. You can refuse non-essential cookies in the cookie banner or in your browser.

How long we keep it

We keep booking, payment and invoice records for as long as tax and accounting law requires (generally up to seven years), and your contact details and messages while you remain a customer or contact of ours. You can ask us to delete your data sooner; we will, except for what the law makes us keep.

Security

Our systems use encrypted connections, access limited to our team, and backups. No system is perfectly secure, but we take care to protect your data and will tell you if a breach affects it.

Your rights

You can ask us at any time to see the personal data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, receive a copy, or stop using it for marketing. If you are in the European Union, the United Kingdom or another place with data protection laws, you also have the rights those laws give you, including complaining to your data protection authority. Write to info@mtbguatemala.com and we will answer within 30 days.

Children

Minors ride with us only with a parent or guardian, who provides their details and signs for them. We do not knowingly collect data from children without that consent.

Changes

We will update this page when our practices change and change the date at the top.
