Semana Santa In Guatemala
Each year Guatemalan Holy week of Semana Santa week we do something new and special, focusing on new region of the country by bike! This year we will adventure into the tropics of Guatemala, Alta Verapaz.
Semana Santa, or Holy Week, holds profound significance in Guatemala, where it is observed with a rich tapestry of religious and cultural traditions. This week-long commemoration, leading up to Easter Sunday is the largest holiday of the year.
Alta Verapaz Department
Alta Verapaz is a region rich in geographical diversity, featuring lush forests, winding rivers, and captivating caves. Cobán, the departmental capital, is a charming town nestled in the mountains. The area is known for its vibrant Semana Santa celebrations and offers a unique blend of natural wonders and cultural experiences. Throughout the tour, you’ll encounter cascading waterfalls, delve into the mystical Tactic Caves, and visit the stunning sites of Hun Nal Ye and Semuc Champey.

March 25th (Monday) – Tactic Caves, Cross to Cobán Explore the mystical Tactic Caves before crossing to Cobán, a quaint town surrounded by lush greenery. Immerse yourself in the local culture and enjoy a comfortable night’s stay.
Discover the enchanting Caves of Rey San Marcos before embarking on a thrilling bike ride to Hun Nal Ye. Stay in quaint bungalows surrounded by nature.

Explore the Caves of Rey San Marcos Ride through lush landscapes and reach the fascinating Caves of Rey San Marcos. Experience the thrill of rafting on the Rio Cahbon, navigating its exciting rapids surrounded by the lush scenery of Alta Verapaz. This is a two part multisport day. We will bike to the river, raft down the river for a section and continue biking!
Embark on a spectacular mountain bike route along the Rio Cahbon, culminating in a descent to sea level at Lake Izabal. Marvel at the diverse landscapes as you finish this epic ride.
