PACKING LIST
Riding pack / Camelbak 10L
Overnight duffel bag 30L
Raincoat / windbreaker
Headlamp
Light puffy / insulated jacket for evenings
Sufficient riding gear for 6 days.
Sunscreen / Sunglasses.
Guatemala has strong UV due to its high elevation and proximity to the equator. If you have fair skin you will burn if the sun is out or not.
Should I bring my full-face helmet?
Yes — but only if you’re already accustomed to riding with it. During this tour, we’ll be climbing at high altitudes where a full-face helmet can quickly feel heavy and restrictive.
The ideal setup for this ride is a modular or convertible helmet with a removable chin guard. This type lets you enjoy the protection of a full-face on the descents and the ventilation of an open-face on the climbs. You can easily pack the chin bar in your backpack for the uphill sections and reattach it when it’s time to drop in.
Comfort and familiarity are key: ride with what you’re used to, but aim for versatility and breathability in Guatemala’s mountain climate.

Bike / Bag Storage
We have arranged for a secure storage of your bags / bikes for the first few nights at the hotel in Antigua. We will bring a mechanic / stand to the hotel to help assemble your bikes, and check them over before the trip.
SPARE PARTS
Here in Guatemala we have limited access to parts. In addition to your bike we would recommend bringing:
⦁ Two tubes that fit the size of your wheel
⦁ Bacon strips / tire plugs / patch kit
⦁ Tubless sealent
⦁ Spare brake pads for your bike
⦁ multi-tool
⦁ Spare derailleur and / or derailleur hanger that fits your bike

WEATHER
Our country has a unique density of micro-climates. Please bring a day bag / fanny pack that accommodates a light jacket / windbreaker or rain coat. Expect cool, clear days with the possibility of afternoon thunderstorms.

Temperature in Guatemala varies with elevation, and is consistent year-round. In Antigua / Lake Atitlan 5,200ft temperatures get close to 80F during the day and drop to around 55F at night. Shorts for riding / pants for the evening.
At our base in mountains of Tecpán (9,500ft) the temperature gets up to around 65F during the day and drop to around 40F at night with the occasional frost.
The highest altitude on this trip will be 11,000ft on day 4

GENERAL TRAVEL TIPS
Our local currency is Quetzales with a current exchange rate of around 7.6 to the US dollar. Credit cards are accepted nearly everywhere.
Upon your arrival at the airport there are several ATMs in the baggage claim area. We would recommend taking out 1000Q -2000Q which should cover light spending for the week.
CELL PHONES
If you want to enjoy the luxury of live posting and spending screen time abroad and you can get a data plan relatively cheap in Guatemala.
Before immigration at the airport are several stands that sell / install and configure local sim cards. Installation costs around 30Q / $5.
Providers
Tigo – Q.10 per 1.5GB
Claro – Q.10 per 3GB

FOOD CONCERNS
The food we prepare is sourced from reputable supermarkets and is sanitized and washed several times before preparation. We only use restaurants of confidence.
WATER
Don’t drink the tap water / don’t even wash your teeth with it. We will provide bottled / purified water throughout your trip. All hotels provide water stations with purified water. Consider refilling your water bottle or camelback from these stations to avoid the purchase of plastic bottles.

PRE TOUR FORM
Please fill out our Pre Tour Form to indicate your dietary preference. On our trips we are happy to accommodate Vegetarian / Gluten free diets. If you have any other special requests just let us know.
Coming from the “first world” your bodies will not be accustomed to the level of sanitation in our country. We would not recommend drinking a lot of alcohol or eating street food at least until the last days of the trip, its just not worth getting sick and jeopardizing your biking experience.

Customs and Immigration Declaration Form
All travelers entering Guatemala are required to complete an online Customs and Immigration Declaration Form before arrival. The form can be filled out in advance to save time at the airport and avoid delays at immigration.
You’ll find the form on the official government website: https://sat.gob.gt → Declaración Jurada de Equipaje.
Once completed, you’ll receive a QR code by email. Keep a digital copy or screenshot ready to show officials upon arrival. Each traveler must submit their own form, including minors.
sAFETY aDVICE
Guatemala is generally a very safe country, and we’re proud to say that in over 10 years of operating tours, we’ve never experienced any security incidents. That said, as a foreigner, you may stand out and be perceived as a target for petty theft. To stay safe and avoid unwanted attention, we recommend following these three basic guidelines:
Carry only what you need. A few hundred Quetzales is more than enough for daily expenses—there’s no need to carry large amounts of cash.
Avoid walking alone at night in urban areas, especially if you’re unfamiliar with the surroundings.
Drink responsibly. If you go out, be mindful of your alcohol consumption and avoid walking home intoxicated.

Guatemalans are known for being warm, jovial, and sociable. It’s common for locals to greet you or strike up a conversation—even if you’re a stranger. This is a normal and friendly gesture, not a threat. In fact, ignoring a greeting or failing to respond with a simple “hola” or “buenos días” is often considered rude. Most people greet everyone in small establishments when entering or leaving. Go with the flow.

Day 1 – Sunday February 1, 2026
Arrival in Guatemala – Transfer to Antigua
Upon arrival at Guatemala City International Airport, our private drivers will meet you in the arrivals area for transfer to Antigua. The drive takes approximately 90 minutes, depending on traffic. Once in Antigua, check in to your lodging and take some time to rest. You can explore the cobbled streets or enjoy a quiet evening. Dinner is on your own.

Hotel Day 1-2
casique real
Antigua, Sacatepequéz
Cacique Real is our base in Antigua for the first two nights—a solid, no-nonsense hideout tucked inside the old colonial grid. Thick stone walls shut out the street, opening instead to quiet courtyards, fire pits, and space to breathe after long days of travel and riding.
Rooms are simple and comfortable, built for real recovery with hot showers and calm nights. Breakfast is included each morning, fueling the days ahead before we roll out. Step outside and Antigua’s food, coffee, and cobblestone streets are right there; step back in and everything goes still. It’s a place to reset, tune gear, and get grounded before heading deep into the mountains.

Day 2
Antigua Shuttle Day
Connect three of Antigua’s most legendary descents on our favorite local enduro route. This shuttle-assisted ride packs in over 2,100 meters (6,900 feet) of descent through steep volcanic terrain, coffee plantations, and forested singletrack that drops straight toward the cobblestone streets of Antigua.
We’ll spend the day linking ancient Mayan trade paths and raw agricultural trails, with two shuttle climbs and three massive descents that showcase the best gravity riding in Guatemala. It’s a big-mountain day—fast and technical.

Close to Tecpán and the main highway, it’s convenient without feeling busy—an easy, no-frills base in the Guatemalan highlands.

Day 4
Tecpán to Lake Atitlán
Experience a diversity of climates in the heart of the Kaqchikel culture on this legendary ride from high-altitude pine forests, a maze of dry canyons, and small towns, finishing on the shore of one of the most beautiful lakes in the world.
With years guiding in the mountains of Tecpán we have created the ultimate route to reach Lake Atitlán by bike! Today has more than 2300m of downhill – come experience the MTB Guatemala home terrain with this mega classic that connects the high mountains of Tecpán to the shores of lake Atitlán below.
After lunch, we will shuttle to Mirador Mario Montenegro, a lookout point above the lake, which offers breathtaking views of Atitlán surrounded by its incredible volcanoes. Here we will descend through La Culebra (The Snake) – an epic Guatemalan classic – all the way down to the docks of the colorful town of Santa Catarina Palopó.

Day 5
Totonicapán and quiché
Today we will be going deep into one of the highest perserved pine forests in all central america. We will leave early traveling about 2hrs to get to our starting point high above lake atitlan with great views. We will visit la piedra María Tecún a mayan ceremonial site perched atop a 500ft rock. From ther we will traverse old 4×4 roads to reach the singletrack, paths used for waterlines that feed the towns below. The property blends historic character with modern, comfortable rooms and features an on-site restaurant, open grounds, and a small lake. It’s a distinctive stop in the Guatemalan highlands—a place to clean up, eat well, and recover after a full day of riding.

Day 6
Mayan Rock trail
We start with a fast point-to-point through red, petrified sand dunes outside Chichicastenango—an eroded landscape that feels ancient and otherworldly. There’s time to hike lines, climb ridges, and frame the terrain before dropping back in.
After lunch, we shuttle high above Zacualpa for the main event. Mayan Rock begins in thick cloud forest, then unwinds in an endless sequence of slickrock turns, carving its way down the mountain. The trail rides exposed edges and volcanic slabs before plunging into steep pine forest, with commanding views over the valley. This is La Piedra de Zacualpa—remote, technical, and rarely ridden.
We end the day at a simple ecolodge with private cabins, deep in the Mayan heartland. This trail is of Guatemala’s true, undiscovered mountain biking gems.

The property features nice, simple cabins that provide privacy, warm beds, and a calm atmosphere despite being in town. It’s an easy, practical stop to unwind, sleep well, and recharge before continuing your journey or the next day’s ride.

Day 7
Alaska cantel
We return to the summit of María Tecún, but this time we point the bikes west and drop straight into steep, broken rock. It’s a fast, rough opener that cracks the day wide open and cuts the long transfer from Quiché to Quetzaltenango in half. After lunch, the real work begins.
At 3,100 meters (10,170 ft), La Cumbre Alaska marks the highest point on the Pan-American Highway between the United States and Mexico. From here, Guatemala’s highest volcanoes line the horizon like sentries. We cross the alpine grasslands, exposed and silent, then tip over the edge into a steep, technical descent that plunges into the Samalá River valley—rock walls, volcanic soil, and gravity doing most of the talking.
The day ends at 2,500 meters, soaked and spent, at Fuentes Georginas—natural hot springs buried in the mountains. A hard ride earns a deep recovery.

FUENTES GEORGINAS
Zunil, Quetzaltenango
Fuentes Georginas sits high in the mountains at 2,550 meters (8,366 ft) and is a hard-earned finish to a long day on the bike. We arrive as the park closes, giving our group exclusive access to the thermal pools—hot water, cold air, and no crowds. Each private bungalow has a fireplace and its own thermal soaking tub, turning the night into pure recovery: heat, silence, and muscle-deep relief, a great way to cap off a week of riding.

Day 8
REGRESO
The final day eases off the throttle, but it doesn’t go quietly. We roll out of Fuentes Georginas with the option to drop straight from the hot springs into a final downhill—one last shot of dirt and speed before the journey turns homeward. From there, we settle into a relaxed rhythm with a late breakfast and a smooth transfer east.
In Tecpán, those who want to finish strong can squeeze in one more optional descent, a last chance to push the bike and empty the tank. By afternoon, we’re rolling back into Antigua—mud-splattered, worn in, and fully spent. The riding fades, but the trip doesn’t let go that easily.
All luggage will be transported in the follow vehicle
We will pass by our office to drop equipment before continuing to antigua
